Studio Jo Meesters creates concepts and products based on the keywords of ‘matter’ and ‘craftsmanship’. The ongoing search for innovation in materials and techniques is the studio’s major drive, in fact the studio considers itself to be a laboratory for product concepts: a lab focused on the research of finding new ways of handling materials and exploring of the boundaries of the intersection of craftsmanship and mass production techniques.

The basic principle of Jo Meester’s work is sustainability, and by integrating various aspects of craftsmanship, sophistication and detailing, Meesters aims to imbue his projects and products with an emotional value. In this way, he emphasises his commitment to the creation and perception of a bond between object and user.

In search of innovation within traditional crafts Botanical Ceramics have been born from a research project based on the possibilities of combining traditional crafts with technological and industrial production methods. The series of containers are manufactured using rapid prototyping technology based on the idea of flowerbulbs as natural vessels.
