╳ Tangible Interfaces Workshop 2010

With due recognition to the innovations of material science, between Tuesday 19th October and Friday 22nd October 2010, Thread Count Lab founders Eleanor-Jayne Browne and Alessia Giardino, with special guest, internationally acclaimed Digital Artist Lin, Pey Chwen, will be hosting the Tangible Interfaces Workshop with students from the Media+Visual Communication Department, Chang Gung University.

Traditionally, Materials Science is an interdisciplinary field that involves the properties of 'matter' and its applications to various areas of science and engineering; however there is a growing branch, within this sphere, whose focus is placed on materials' aesthetic qualities and their innovative applications. The aim of the Tangible Interfaces Workshop therefore is to explore this area. This conceptual thinking throws up many interesting insights and questions that we believe are ripe for exploration; and our challenge to workshop participants is to answer the question: Through materiality how can we embed sentiment into materials?
