╳ Recreating The Earth

Koji Shiraya’s recent piece ‘Trinary’, composed from feldspar, a group of rock-forming tectosilicate minerals, which interestingly make up as much as 60% of the Earth's crust, and porcelain, underwrites the concept that ‘things’ of the natural world are not simply neutral. Instead, each symbolises or provokes in us reactions, and in this case ‘particles.’

Although Shiraya is frugal with her conceptual underpinning; we can ‘read’ through her work, that the material milieu is a space for her to ‘recreate the earth’ (beautifully).
